Saltimport takes sustainability seriously with ISO 14001 certification

What the certification means

Saltimport is now certified to ISO 14001, which sets requirements for systematic environmental management. For customers, this confirms that the company's environmental work is documented and verifiable, not just good intentions.

Measures across the whole value chain

Emissions from our own ships are followed up through the EU emissions trading system, and the company works continuously on better capacity utilisation and smarter sailing routes to and from the terminals. On land, terminal equipment has been replaced with fully electric alternatives.

  • Control of ship emissions through the EU emissions trading system
  • Optimised capacity utilisation and sailing routes
  • Fully electric equipment at terminals
  • Recyclable packaging in cooperation with Grønt Punkt

Looking ahead

Saltimport is also working with Viridis Bulk Carriers on the future use of ammonia-powered ships for salt shipping, as part of a long-term plan for emission cuts.

We set ambitious climate targets and work step by step toward a logistics network with no emissions at all, says managing director Anders Solheim Book.

In short

With ISO 14001 certification, Saltimport takes another step toward a more sustainable value chain, from ships and terminals to packaging and transport.
