Winter maintenance with fewer call-outs

The challenge

The crew was called out when the ice was already there. That meant long nights, high salt consumption and roads that stayed slippery longer than necessary.

The solution

We switched to preventive salting with the right grain size for the temperature, and set up a depot close to the most exposed stretches.

The result

• Half as many night callouts through the season

• Lower salt consumption per kilometre of road

• Less time with slippery roads for road users

We work ahead of the weather now, instead of after it.
